I have never had a professional
massage. What
can I expect?
On your first visit, you will be asked to fill out
an intake form that asks questions about your general health,
specific injuries and whether you are under a doctor's care.
This is the time for you to ask me any questions you may
have. The entire process will only take a few minutes and
will not cut into your massage time.
You will be given instructions on how
to lie on the table. You will be given privacy while you
undress. Typically, you will start face down with your
body entirely covered with a sheet. You will be asked to
remove any jewelry and watches so that they do not interfere
with the massage. I play
relaxing music during the session. If there is some
particular music or sounds you would like please feel free
to ask or bring your own CD.
Do I have to remove my clothes?
Chair Massages are typically
done fully clothed. However,
table massages with creams/lotions require you to remove
your clothing. What you remove depends upon your comfort
level and whether or not you are receiving a full body massage
or treatment to a specific area. I use professional
draping techniques and only uncover the area that is being
worked on at that time.
What are some landmarks to help me locate your offices? Bethlehem We are located at the corner of 2nd Avenue, two blocks west of Main Street. The entrance to our suite is on the side of the building on 2nd Avenue. We are next to a restaurant called The Café. Macungie
We are located in the Macungie Professional Center just north of Willow Lane. The entrance to our suite is located between the two buildings, our logo is on the door.
Is your office handicapped accessible?
Our office is located on the second floor of a remodeled Victorian home and is not accessible by wheelchair. There are no ramps or elevators.
Do you massage children?
Yes, children can benefit from massage as much as adults do. We treat your child with the utmost care and respect. In addition, Kerry is trained in infant massage techniques.
Can I shower after my massage?
Unfortunately, we do not have facilities for showering.
Is there any special preparation on my part before or after
my massage?
While there is no preparation that is needed before
your massage it would be very helpful if you allow yourself
to relax during your massage. It is also highly recommended
that you drink lots of water after your massage. The
water is important because massage releases toxins from within
your muscles and the water helps wash it away and remove
them from your body. Without enough water to wash away
the toxins, you may experience some muscle soreness.
What is Cupping?
Cupping is an ancient Chinese method of healing. By creating suction and negative pressure cupping is used to drain excess fluids and toxins, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, bring blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles, and stimulate the peripheral nervous system.
